Alrededor de una nueva fogata: Cómo los fanáticos y las comunidades en línea redefinen el arte de contar historias en la era digital

Journal Title: Revista Académica Estesis - Year 2024, Vol 1, Issue 17

Abstract

This article explores how new narrative forms emergein the digital age, challenging traditional models of au-thorship and story consumption. Through a documentaryanalysis of paradigmatic cases, it examines four mainexamples: Gravity Falls, renowned for its use of trans-media elements and audience interaction through puzzlesand hidden narratives; Gorillaz, which redefines the con-cept of a musical band by integrating an expansive andvisual narrative; Five Nights at Freddy’s, a phenomenonwhere the fan community shapes and expands a transme-dia narrative through collaborative theory; and the SCPFoundation, an example of collective storytelling whereparticipants create, share, and expand stories within avast fictional universe. The objective is to analyze how these narratives, mediatedby digital platforms, promote co-authorship, communityparticipation, and collective intelligence, granting consu-mers an active role in story development. Using a socio-cultural approach, this article highlights how these casesillustrate the decentralization of creative control and thesignificance of participatory dynamics. These phenomenanot only redefine the relationship between creators andconsumers but also invite us to rethink how we conceivethe creation and consumption of stories in an interconnec-ted and globalized environment.
