An Evaluation on Psycho-Social Reasons of Divorce

Abstract
Divorce as old institution as marriage is the legal ending of a marriage which couples are not psychologically satisfied with their partnership, and they can not meet their mutual expectations and needs. Marriage which begins with great happiness, dreams and plans for the future, ends with divorce increasingly for many people both in our country and world-wide. Divorce which leads to the dissolution of the family and marriage institution and leads to the emergence of important psychosocial situations; is a phenomenon that needs to be examined for all dimensions and reasons. In this current study, it is aimed to investigate marriage and divorce processes and to make an psycho-social evaluation on the reasons of the increasing divorce rates in Turkey and the world. For this purpose, the effects of the social, cultural and technological changes in today's world on the personality structures of individuals, their lives, interpersonal relations, future life expectations, view of marriage, process of marriage and divorce are evaluated. Besides institution of marriage, reasons leading people to the marriage, spouse selection, starting and sustaining of marriage and divorce process are investigated in terms of psycho-social perspective.
