Journal Title: Gelişim ve Psikoloji Dergisi (GPD) - Year 2020, Vol 1, Issue 2
Abstract
Bullying behaviors, which are common among peers, are becoming increasingly important as a serious social problem. It will be important to know the environmental factors that affect bullying behaviors, especially among adolescents, in planning methods of interventions and increasing their effectiveness. The aim of this study is to analyze the film named "Klass", which is about peer bullying in adolescents, on the basis of Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory. For this purpose, the 2007 Estonian film "Klass" directed by Ilmar Raag was examined. The research was carried out using the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. The data obtained were subjected to content analysis according to the systems approach of Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory. According to the findings obtained, it was seen that the movie named “Klass” mostly deals with physical and verbal bullying among the types of peer bullying in adolescents, followed by other bullying types. In addition, it has been determined that the events related to peer bullying in the film are related to all system layers from the microsystem to the chronosystem in Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Systems Theory and are affected by these systems. As a result, it can be said that the movie “Klass” plays an important mediating role in explaining the relationship of peer bullying in adolescents with environmental factors and in drawing attention to the dimensions of bullying.
