Abstract
Obesity represents a significant and growing problem around the globe. Aside from the impairment of an individual patient, the negative consequences impose a significant economic burden for many health care systems.[1] For over a decade, bariatric surgical procedures have established themselves as a way to achieve a permanent weight reduction for a large number of patients.[2]
