Analysis of the View of Avicenna and Suhrawardi about Secondary concepts
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2015, Vol 9, Issue 11
Abstract
The existence or non-existence of the human knowledge depends on the existence or non-existence of secondary concepts and philosophy is the knowledge that deals with them and it gains its content from them. The secondary concepts can be studied from various aspects; such as their status, their epistemic role, the way that the mind is familiar with them, their giver and etc. In this article, first the primary concepts are defined by giving some secondary examples and then the views of Plato and Aristotle about the secondary concepts are defined; it means that we state their objectivity or subjectivity and after that we review and evaluate the views of Avicenna and Suhrawardi about them and compare these two views and we will find out that Suhrawardi's view is much more stable.
