Abstract
The contemporary civilization demands difficult tasks from the education institutions. High requirements are expected from teachers concerning both their knowledge and pedagogical abilities. A teacher is expected to have authority and then he/she may perform his/her mission in a reliable way. The article presents how the authority is perceived and classified according to different theoreticians. Also for students, an academic teacher’s authority and responsibility are vital issues.
