BEING A DISABLED WOMAN IN THE CONTEXT OF FAMILY AND POWER RELATIONSHIP

Abstract
This study covers the analysis of how women with disabilities have experienced the difficulties of being both disabled and women in the context of family and power relationship. In the research, unstructured in-depth interviewing, which is a qualitative research pattern, was chosen to understand how women with disabilities experience and understand practices in daily life, how they perceive the others in the society and how they are perceived. Interviews were conducted with 26 women with physical disabilities. Following the analysis of the data, the findings were described, interpreted and evaluated on four main themes as marriage and divorce, sexuality and abuse family and child, health and urban life. The study reveals that in the context of family and power relationship, disabled women are struggling to survive the problems and difficulties encountered in everyday life by their own efforts within their own social conditions and relationships, and they form their identity as women within these boundaries.
