CHECKING ROBUSTNESS FOR A CONCRETE ROADWAY VIADUCT
Journal Title: ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF TECHNICAL SCIENCES - APPLIED MECHANICS - Year 2012, Vol 57, Issue 1
Abstract
Experts’ pursuits in constructions are connected now with the structural robustness’ notions and how to prevent the partial, full or disproportioned collapse. The question: “What is robustness?” has by far no unitary and simple answer. For bridge’s structures there are no specific directives for robustness’ calculation. Even in COST – Robustness of Structures – TU0601 experts’ discussions, bridges problem was less exemplified because of the every structure uniqueness. The object of this study is a concrete roadway viaduct, with eight spans, for two traffic lanes. This paper focuses on two questions: (i) How the use of a type or another of finite element will influence the initial damage’s modelling. (ii) The effect of the initial failure type for the inherent dynamic response of the structure and, actually, what element for that answer – the value of the inherent period or the form of the eigenvalue – is more susceptible for the initial type of failure.

TRENDS IN SURGICAL ROBOTICS
Surgical Robotics today is essentially about two families of devices, namely telemanipulators and simulators for mini-invasive (endoscopic) procedures. In both cases, the user-interface, i.e. the “joystick” to be manipul...
DYNAMICS OF THE 3-PRP PLANAR PARALLEL ROBOT
Recursive modelling for the kinematics and dynamics of the 3-PRP planar parallel robot is established in this paper. Three identical planar legs connecting to the moving platform are located in a vertical plane. Knowing...
MULTI-SCALE CRYSTALLINE PLASTICITY FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF TEXTURE EVOLUTION IN DRAWING PROCESS
The crystallographic control technology in the aluminum wire drawing process is a key technology in the aluminum industries, which produces high-strength bars and wires for the electric, automotive and aircraft parts. A...
NUMERICAL SIMULATION OF AN UNDERWATER EXPLOSION BY SPH METHOD
This paper presents theoretical and practical fundamentals regarding numerical analysis of an underwater explosion. Its parameters and effects upon submerged structures represent the aim of the numerical analysis by Smoo...
DYNAMICS ANALYSIS OF A TWO-MODULE HYBRID PARALLEL MANIPULATOR
Recursive matrix relations for dynamics analysis of a spatial two-module hybrid parallel manipulator are established in this paper. Knowing the relative motions of the moving platforms, the inverse dynamics problem is so...
