Clinical case of the Wasserman false positive test at the autoimmune hepatitis combined with antiphospholipid syndrome

Abstract

The article briefly describes treponemal and non-treponemal serological tests that are used to diagnose syphilis, as well as the causes of false positive results of these tests. A clinical observation has been presented of a female patient with autoimmune hepatitis and antiphospholipid syndrome. For a long time, it was diagnosed as a serous resistant syphilis due to the positive serological reaction, and patient was administered the numerous antibiotics’ courses, resulting in the aggravation of the liver disease. The lessons to be learned by doctors from this clinical case have been formulated.
