Clinicopathological features and differential diagnosis of ulcerative colitis
Journal Title: Biomedical Transformation - Year 2022, Vol 3, Issue 2
Abstract
Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). The etiology and pathogenesis are not completely clear, and are currently considered to be the result of the interaction of multiple pathogenic factors. It mainly includes environmental, genetic, intestinal microenvironment and immune factors, among which chronic intestinal mucosa inflammation caused by intestinal immune system disorder plays an important role in UC. By reviewing the literature and combining with the cases in clinical practice, we systematically discusse the clinical epidemiological features, endoscopy, medical image, laboratory examination, treatment and prognosis of UC, focusing on the pathological morphology and differential diagnosis of UC.
