Comparison of Three Deep Jump Plyometric Trainings on Vertical Jump in Basketball Players
Journal Title: International Research Journal of Applied and Basic Sciences - Year 2013, Vol 4, Issue 12
Abstract
Polymeric training increases the explosive power of the muscles. In the present training, the muscle gets the most magnitude and effectiveness through eccentric and concentric contractions consecutively. This research aimed to examine the Comparison of three deep jump plyometric trainings on vertical jump in basketball players. For this purpose, 30 male basketball players (average age: 19.2 years, average height: 178.6 centimeters, average weight: 71.1 kilograms) with at least three-year playing background were participated voluntarily and randomly divided in three experiment groups with 30 members including 50 cm platform, 60 cm platform and 70 cm platform. First, the properly deep jump was taught for the players. The exercise protocol contained eight-week training. Each week consisted of three sessions. The session lasted thirty to forty minutes. Vertical jump was measured through Sargent jump test in pretest and posttest. For data analysis, the independent t-test and one-way ANOVA were used (p<0.05). Results showed that the three deep jump plyometric trainings significantly influenced the vertical jump in basketball players. However, there was not significant difference among three groups. It was suggested that the plyometric training is applied to improve the vertical jump in basketball players.
