Decompression Sickness: A Rarely Encountered Case In Neurologic Practice
Journal Title: Journal of Neurological Sciences-Turkish - Year 2008, Vol 25, Issue 1
Abstract
Decompression sickness is a disease caused by the bubble formation of inert gases in the tissues due to the sudden decrease in ambient pressure. It has been called ‘hits' by divers. Based on the manifestation of the clinical symptoms, it has been classified as Type 1 and Type 2. The most commonly affected area is the spinal cord. Decompression sickness can be prevented by slowly ascending to normal ambient pressure.
