DISCOURSIVE PECULIARITIES OF SUBTITLES

Abstract
The most common types of audio-visual translation include subtitling. Subtitles are the textual accompaniment of a video sequence that duplicates or elaborates the audio track. The theme is the discursive peculiarities of the subtitles to video material. The subject is the study of the creation of subtitles for video materials and their discursive characteristics. The aim of the article is to analize the creation of the subtitles and determine their discursive peculiarities in terms of linguistics and to present the factors of the subtitles formation. The methods of the research are the following: analytical, statistical, discriptive. In modern linguistics the study of the creation of subtitles remains currently central which is explained by the process of globalization and the use of a large number of video information from different parts of the world. According to the analyzis we can make the following conclusion: subtitles are characterized by situational attachment. They are created for a specific video material, realized in a certain time and space continuum and are not considered separately from it. The communicative orientation of subtitles is represented in the form of a dialogue consisting of various speech acts. If we consider subtitles in terms of discourse, we can distinguish the following text categories, which are realized in subtitles: 1. The integrity of the text; 2. Text as a communicative entity; 3. Coherence of the text; 4. Structural organization of the text. Subtitles have basic textual characteristics but the degree and scale of their implementation varies depending on the scope of use (film, interview, newscast, show, etc.). We can use the results of the research in the sphere of audio-video translation.
