“DISPERSED” BOOK COLLECTIONS IN HIGHER SCHOOL LIBRARY: ABOUT EXPERIENCE OF STUDYING AND RECONSTRUCTION

Abstract
The article deals with methodology of studying of “dispersed” book collections of private persons as well as collective owners (the libraries of Richelieu Lyceum andNovorossiyskiyUniversity) by the example of the work of the Rare Books and Manuscripts Department of the Scientific Library of the Odesa I. I. Mechnikov National University. Traditional methods are used along with new informational technologies applying Absotheque Unicode program for assuming data on particular copies suffered for reconstruction of “dispersed” book collections on informational level. The way of the part of collection of the Medical and Surgical Academy of Vilnius to the lyceum library was observed on basis of de visu detection of the stamp «BIBLIOTH. ACADEM. VILNENSIS» on the books from Richelieu Lyceum and searches in the State Archives of Odessa Region. These books (120 titles in 268 volumes) came to Odesa in 1843. Copies from private book collections of Kazimierz Leon Sapieha (1609-1656), Wladyslaw Herberski (1784/1785-1826), Jan Sniadecki (1756-1830) are discovered among them. The stamps on books from Ivan Yurievich Tymchenko’s (1863-1939) private book collection tell us about changes of names and structure of OdesaUniversityin 20th century: theImperialNovorossiyskiyUniversity, theInstitute ofPopular Education, Odesa Physical, Chemical and Mathematic Institute,OdesaStateUniversity... The findings of this article may be used for creation of collection indexes. Besides it is a possibility of using of them as a basis for realization of certification of book collections. The work on reconstruction of “dispersed” book collections let to solve not only bibliological problems and to reconstruct overall picture of formation on the stacks of concrete library, but helps us to enrich our knowledge on history of the science and culture of Novorossiyskiy region.
