Abstract
In this article it is noted that qualitative diagnostics and control of technical condition of railway transport objects is a method of ensuring reliability, safety and stability of cargo transportation. Also the author of the article listed the main causes of the railway-transport incidents connected with freight wagons of the Ukrainian railways. It is noted that the findings of the commission for official investigation on the railway in the case of railway accidents may not always be objective. At the same time, the forensic railway transport expertise provide a full, objective and independent conclusion in the event of railway accidents. The technical condition of wagons correctly established by the expert allows to investigate its influence on the origin and development of the mechanism of the railway accident, more precisely to determine the immediate technical reason, the sequence of intermediate technical reasons that led to it.
