Journal Title: Psychology and Education: A Multidisciplinary Journal - Year 2025, Vol 32, Issue 6
Abstract
This action research investigated the effectiveness of multifaceted interventions in enhancing reading proficiency among Grade 8-A students at Columban College-Barretto, Olongapo City. Pre-assessment scores revealed that a majority of students were below expectations in reading proficiency, indicating a need for intervention. The researchers implemented a series of interventions, including re-readings and choral reading with live audience participation, combining text with audio/video, and using Readers' Theatre. Guided by rubrics, the interventions were designed to improve reading engagement and comprehension. Post-assessment scores showed a statistically significant improvement in reading proficiency, with a substantial increase in the mean score. The results suggest the multifaceted interventions were successful in enhancing reading skills and addressing student disengagement and comprehension challenges.
