Evaluation of the collectin accessions of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.)

Journal Title: Rośliny Oleiste - Oilseed Crops - Year 2012, Vol 33, Issue 1

Abstract

The aim of this work was the evaluation of linseed (Linum usitatissimum L.) accessions from the collection of the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants (INF&MP). The plant material consisted of 13 breeding lines and 5 varieties of linseed and was described by passport data. Tested genotypes were evaluated for 11 quantitative traits: panicle length, number of branches, 1000 seeds weight, total yield, seed yield, straw yield, fibre content in straw, slenderness of plant, plant natural height, technical length and stem diameter. Variability coefficients were calculated for the above mentioned quantitative parameters. Low variability of all tested traits was observed. The highest variability was observed in seed yield, while the lowest in the number of branches. Moreover, morphological and biological characteristics were prepared. The experimental material was sown in 3 replications during a 2-year (2008–2009) experiment.
