EXTENDED MODEL PUPILS’ ICT COMPETENCIES IN PRIMARY SCHOOL

Abstract
In search of factors influencing the development of pupils’ ICT competencies, a number of conceptual provisions were developed and empirically confirmed in the course of the research. The proposed methods are ways of initially identifying factors related to pupils’ ICT competencies; however, they do not take into account the wider context of pupils’ ICT interaction in which they are involved in everyday life. Most assessment programs and their corresponding tools are focused on out-of-school education. This study presents a multi-layered model that can be used to guide future research aimed at explaining the reasons why some primary school pupils are more effective in acquiring ICT competencies than others. Factors should be considered at different levels: pupil, class and school.
