Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2017, Vol 6, Issue 5
Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of investigating factors affecting law aversion among 15-34-year-old citizens in Sirjan (Kerman, Iran). The variables under investigation were personal and social factors such as age, gender, education, social class, social participation, leisure activities, residential neighborhood, sense of institutional monitoring, the social capital of the family, awareness of the law, and attitude to the law. Building upon a variety of social distortion theories, we put forward a new theory called “tolerance with law aversion”. The data were collected using a survey method. The research population included 41600 citizens aged 15-34 years old living in Sirjan, of whom 400 persons were selected as the respondents in the research sample through random cluster sampling using the Cochrane formula. The data were collected using a Likert -scale questionnaire and its reliability was checked and confirmed using the Cronbach alpha coefficient with a corresponding value of 0.74. The collected data were analyzed using ETA test, Pearson correlation test, and one-sample t-test. The results showed that law aversion is less than among women than men. Besides, law awareness was low among the respondents. It was also noted that there is a general tolerance of law aversion.
