FORMATION OF RHETORICAL SCHOOLS IN ATHENS

Abstract
In the article it is said that during the centuries the oratory of the ancient world existed as a fundamental basis for the development of European rhetorical culture in general and judicial rhetoric in particular. The process of formation of constant rhetorical schools in Athens is analyzed. It describes how institutional competition contributes to the enhancement of the quality and effectiveness of learning, the professionalization of rhetorical practice. Attention is drawn to the values of the rhetorical legacy of Socrates, Gorgia, Plato, Aristotle.
