Hamletyzm as a phenomenon and a concept that characterizes social mood

Abstract
The article is devoted to the features of hamletyzm in the XIX century Russia. With the help of O. Hertsen and M. Chernyshevskyi’s statements and literary critical comments on Hamlet, it is demonstrated that the name of Hamlet was a concept used to refer to a particular socio-psychological complex. Hamletyzm in the XIX century Russia had a pronounced social character and changed its colour in accordance with the social position of the Russian intellectuals.
