[i][b]Power vs. Property – a Few Problems of the Evolution of the Relations between Political Power and Economic Power [/b][/i]

Abstract
The thing that connects power and property (at least from a theoretical point of view) is their immense ambiguity and the difficulty of establishing a uniform definition for both terms. This situation is, to a great extent, the result of the fact that during different time periods (eras) different meanings were “assigned” both to the notion of power as well as property. For instance, property was understood differently in the Roman law than it is understood today. Also the notion of power was interpreted in a great variety of ways during different eras.An example of radically different interpretations of similar phenomena can be the interpretation of property and its function for the state and society in the Marxist doctrine as opposed to the liberal doctrine. The different practical consequences that the realisation of the mentioned suppositions of both doctrines brought about can be seen in the history of socialist and capitalist countries (the latter ones only in their liberal version).
