In-Service Teachers’ Views on The Environment And Environmental Education, Human Brain and Genetics, Health and Sexual Education

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to present in-service teachers’ (Class, Science, Biology and Turkish Language Teachers) views on the environment and environmental education, human brain and genetics, health and sexual education. The research method of the study is field study. The Biohead- Citizen Questionnaire developed in the context of Biohead-Citizen project was used as main data collection tool in the study. According to the research results, it is found out that teachers’ sensitivity related to environmental pollution is high and teachers believe that health education in the schools plays an important role to effects the students’ behaviour. The research results showed that there was no statistically significant difference in mean scores for gender, teaching experience and mother-father education level. In addition, it is found that there was statistically difference in the views on environment and environmental education mean scores of teachers according to his/her childhood living place. Finaly, teachers’ graduation branches have also effects on their views related to human brain and genetics.
