The article reviewed theoretical aspects of the characteristics and classification of production resources, as well as the role of inventories in the system of economic activity of the enterprise. Considered the main directions of accounting in the enterprise. An example of methods and practical procedures for the analysis of inventory of the enterprise. The analysis of the structure and dynamics of changes in the structure of stocks in a certain period at the analyzed company was carried out, the level of provision of material resources of the road enterprise was analyzed, the coefficients of efficiency of use of inventories at the enterprise were calculated in the period under review. Based on the analysis of material resources, problems of accounting at the enterprise were discovered, and the main directions for improving the economic mechanism, accounting and control of the company's inventory were determined. One of the main problems of the effective use of the company's inventories is the formation of overtime stocks. The reasons for their formation are: overestimate compared with the optimal, the consumption rates of materials; failure to comply with plans for the nomenclature of production; unreasonable increase in balances of work in progress; changes in production plans during their implementation; delivery of material resources for transit norms that exceed the needs of enterprises; refusal of customers from the declared products. And so on based on this study, ways to improve the efficiency of use of inventories have been proposed. One of the main directions of increasing the efficiency of using material resources on enterprise by reducing the length of stay in inventory is to improve planning the supply of material resources, increasing the level of their storage and preparation for use. Economic value is determined by the fact that the implementation of these paths will lead to accelerate the turnover of productive assets, which in turn will release from circulation some of the current funds of the enterprise that will allow the enterprise to develop more promptly and effectively.
