INCREASING IMPORTANCE OF COURSE «SECURITY OF VITAL ACTIVITY» FOR STUDENTS OF SPECIALTY «TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGIES»

Abstract
Introduction. The features of the growing importance of the discipline ‘Safety of vital activity’ are analyzed. Particular attention is given to the improving of the theoretical, practical training and educational process in the light of modern requirements. Methods. The course of ‘Safety of vital activity’ for students of engineering and technical faculty, for the students of the specialty ‘Transport Technologies’ in particular, aims to prepare the professional for awareness-raising and training activities promoting healthy lifestyle of youth. Results. The teaching of ‘Safety of vital activity’ has to take cue from the range of contemporary safety issues in all areas of human life. The course plays a critical role in the educational and professional program for Junior specialist’s and Bachelor’s training, since this discipline uses the achievements and methods of fundamental and applied sciences, allowing the graduate to solve the professional problems in a particular specialty and taking into account the risk of internal and external dangers that emergencies and their negative consequences cause. Discussion. The general objective of the ‘Safety of vital activity’ course is the formation of the individual safety in general. The subject matter is determined in accordance with forms and approaches for safety model creation. Therefore ‘Safety of vital activity’ course has its own characteristics. Firstly, the discipline transfers all students’ theoretical knowledge into practice. Secondly, it is an important component of human culture, since the culture of safety should be considered as one of the main educational goals. The main goal of the educational process at the university is the formation of students’ healthy lifestyle as well as their readiness to develop their knowledge throughout life.
