INFORMATION RISK OF THE ENTERPRISE: TO SOLVE THE QUI PRO QUO PROBLEM IN DEFINING THE CONCEPT

Abstract
Purpose. The aim of the article is to analyze the existing approaches to the definition of the concept “information risk” (IR), the development and substantiation of proposals to eliminate qui pro quo at the enterprise level, which has intensified in the digital age. Methodology of research. The initial procedure for scientific research is the purposeful and systematic study of the activities of innovative and active enterprises, which under the influence of digital transformation are today in conditions of increased risk. The observation of these phenomena in reality, the study of the works of scientists and practicing experts, a critical and comparative analysis of theoretical developments on the topics of IP formed the methodological basis of this study. The following general methodological methods, such as system approach, abstraction, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, analogy, scientific generalization, etc., are used to achieve the goal for solving qui pro quo problem, in the definition of the concept of “information risk” at the enterprise level. Findings. The conducted analysis of the state of research in the field of IR shows that it is characterized by the lack of a coherent view of scientists and practical workers in relation to most current problems of the theory of IR. In particular, this refers to the definition of the concept “information risk of the enterprise”. It is shown that during the popularization of the concept of “digital economy” and the worsening of the security problems in 2016-2017, confusion is growing in the sense of such concepts as “information risks”, “risks of information security”, “IT risks”, “cyber- risks”, etc. It is established that it is impossible to successfully solve most of the key tasks of IR analysis (management) without solving this problem – their qualitative and quantitative assessment, determination of ways to prevent or reduce the negative consequences of their offensive. The shortcomings of the existing approaches to the definition of the concept of “IR” are identified and the scientific and methodical preconditions for their elimination are formulated. Originality. The author’s definition of the concept “information risk of the enterprise” is proposed on the basis of critical analysis of works and formulated scientific and methodical preconditions. Directions for further research are recommended. Practical value. The application of theoretical development will contribute to a more effective solution to a number of existing problems in the analysis of IR, in particular problems of qualitative analysis of IR (the definition of its composition, the relationship with other risks of the object, the place in the system of their classification, etc.) This, in its turn, will further facilitate the better resolution of such key for risk management issues as quantitative risk assessment and its use in making managerial decisions, as well as defining and substantiation of the ways to prevent them, or reducing the negative consequences of the onset of these risks.
