Investigating the relationship between parenting styles and educational self-concept with female students’ educational achievement

Abstract

The present study aimed at identifying the relationship between parenting styles and educational self-concept features with students’ Educational achievement. This research statistical society includes all of parents and the female students of 4th to 6th grade in elementary school from Education Region of 16 in Tehran. Sampling was performed through cluster sampling method. 300 persons were chosen as sample. The results offirst hypothesis showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between the authority parenting styles and educational self-concept. The results of the second and third research hypotheses showed that the relationship between parenting practices (permissiveness and authoritarian) and educational self-concept is negative inverse relationship and The fourth hypothesis indicates that there is a direct and positive relationship between educational achievement and parenting practices, in the fifth hypothesis there is a direct and positive relationship between educational self-concept and educational achievement, In the sixth hypothesis research relationship was not significant between parenting practices in interactions with educational self-concept and educational achievement.
