LANGUAGE AS AN INSTRUMENT OF SOFT POWER AND CULTURAL DIPLOMACY: URDU LANGUAGE IN KYRGYZSTAN

Abstract

Through informal diplomacy like educational diplomacy and by using instruments of soft power like language and culture, many nations have won the hearts of people. Central Asian countries like Kyrgyzstan are very passionate to join hands with South Asian countries like Pakistan. This paper emphasizes the importance of teaching Urdu language in Kyrgyzstan as a policy issue and provides recommendations for Pakistani foreign policy makers to pay attention on the neglected area of language politics.
