Journal Title: Vita et Tempus - Year 2018, Vol 5, Issue 1
Abstract
Born in England, but self-proclaimed Mexican. Leonora Carrington arrived in Mexico in 1942 as a refugee from the World War II and developed great part of her artistic production - composed by pieces of writing, oil painting, mural painting, sculpture in bronze and more- in this country. Her colorful biography is sometimes represented in his art. Influenced by Irish and Mexican culture, Carrington’s art engages us with its fantasy world and peculiar characters. These days, Leonora is considered as one of the most important and key figures of surrealism not only in Mexico, but in the world.
