Les réflexions métalinguistiques des profanes autour du phénomène de l’argot

Abstract
The present contribution examines laypersons’ metalinguistic practices concerning argot phenomena in E-forum postings. At first, the notions of linguistique populaire and Laienlinguistik as well as the continuum model developed by Martin Stegu are introduced. The importance of E-forum postings for the compilation of written corpora in a folk linguistic line of research is addressed. Then, a sample of postings from various threads is investigated in order to show which linguistic phenomena laypersons are interested in and what their attitudes are. Finally, a categorization of major types of metalinguistic discussions of argotic phenomena is proposed.
