Modeling Flow Stress Compressive Curves of ZK60 Magnesium Alloy at High Temperature and Various Strain Rates

Journal Title: Journal of Science and today’s world - Year 2014, Vol 3, Issue 3

Abstract

Today, magnesium alloys are used due to properties such as high strength to weight ratio, low density material in a structure, casting foundry capacity, high ability gray cast under pressure, machine capability practitioners, good weld-ability, protection from the elements in corrosion, easy access and good thermal conductivity, good potential for use in industries such as aerospace, automotive, construction and electronics and their use is expanding. Due to lack of resources required, a lot of research work is currently being done throughout the world on these alloys. In this paper we perform pressure tests on ZK60 magnesium alloy, and stress-strain curve is obtained. The experimental machine is called SANTAM 150KN. Due to the friction between the contact surfaces of the compression test, the sample becomes the barrel form. Many investigations were done to eliminate the effect of friction on the stress - strain curve on the barrel deformation of the sample. In this paper, for improving the results of pressure tests, the convexity adjustment and number modification are used. Using software Deform-2D, numerical simulation of pressure test was done and finally after much analysis and comparisons, the appropriate method is selected.
