Mykola Leontovych contribution to Ukraine music culture

Abstract
The article highlights the life and career of prominent representatives of Ukrainian music culture, composer, teacher and public ¿ gure Mykola Leontovych. It reveals facets of a composer. A signi¿ cant contribution to music-choral culture of Ukraine is determined. Leontovych’s musical heritage that make choral miniatures – Ukrainian folk songs is analyzed. The emphasis is made on the structure of opera. In particular, the opera «The Mermaid’s Easter» by M. Leontovych was a natural extension of him as a composer. The artistic heritage of M. Leontovych is one of the heights of the Ukrainian spirit. The article analyzes new forms of harmony and counterpoint, organically related to the folk song, because the song provides not only a melody, but fraught with musical properties. His choral works are marked with the seal of genius composer
