Abstract
The aim of this study was evaluation the effects of supplemented diets by levamisole and Echinacea purpurea (Moench, 1794) extract on growth and reproductive parameters in angelfish, Pterophyllum scalare (Lictenstein, 1823). 54 Uniform angelfish (average weight 3.8±0.29 g) were selected. The fishes were fed by three diets which included commercial extruder diet (control), commercial extruder diet supplemented by 0.25 ppt levamisole (T1) and commercial extruder diet supplemented by 0.25 ppt Echinacea purpurea extract (T2). The experiment was conducted for 3 months. The weight gain in T2 was significantly higher than other groups (p<0.05). There was no significant difference (p>0.05) in fecundity and hatching rate among groups but the best survival of yolk-sac absorption period was found in group fed supplemented diet by Echinacea extract (p<0.05). This study indicates that growth performance can be improved by dietary Echinacea extract supplementation and larval survival can be promoted by it.

The effects on growth and survival of probiotic Bacillus spp. fed to Persian sturgeon (Acipencer persicus) larvae.
This study addressed if sturgeon larvae grew and survived better when fed a probiotic. Bacillus spp. were bioencapsulated in Daphnia magna (Straus 1820) and fed to Acipencer persicus (Borodin 1897) larvae. Baci...
Particular disposal of muscular component iin prostate of nutria (Myocastor coypus, Rodentia, Myocastoridae).
Prostate sampled from three nutria males was processed for histological examination. It was found that, unlike terrestrial mammals, the capsula and conjunctive trabeculae not contain smooth muscle cells, so they do not p...
In vivo treatment of the gill monogenean Pseudorhabdosynochus lantauensis (Monogenea, Diplectanidae) on orange-spotted grouper (Epinephelus coioides) cultured in the Philippines
The gill monogenean Pseudorhabdosynochus lantauensis has been consistently observed on cultured orange spotted-grouper (Epinephelus coioides) fingerlings. The tolerance level of E. coioides to formalin (H2CO solution) an...
The influence of pellets quality on the growth of sterlet, in recirculating aquaculture system
The paper presents some aspects regarding the influence of food quality on the breeding of sterlet, Acipenser ruthenus Linnaeus, 1758, in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The experiment took place over 30 days,...
The Pricopian «gene theory of sexuality» is just a hypothesis, but good enough to explain the sex determination in fish.
The present paper summarizes the Pricopian theory of sexuality, discussed in the context of fishes’ sex determination. On a logical approach and considering the most recent genetic evidences reported from studies on bact...
