JAW BONE DENSITOMETRY: A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY FOR ANALOGOUS COMPARISON OF RELATIVE OPTICAL DENSITY WITH THE PERIOTESTOMETRY DATA

Abstract
The study of bone density was based on 196 orthopantomograms made before implant placement. 327 maxillary zones had been examined for the insertion of 572 one-piece dental implants. The received data had been statistically processed by correlating the previous results of Periotest® values of the primary stability with the bone density assessment during implant insertion procedures. The obtained results have shown a strong inverse correlation between the obtained densitometry values both with the Periotest® values of primary stability (r=-0,74, p<0,001), as well as with the bone density appreciated during surgery(r=-0,71, p<0,001).
