THE ASSESSMNET OF THE CRITICAL ENVIRONMENTAL SITUATION AT MICROSCALAR LEVELS (MICROREGIONS, LOCAL AREAS)
Journal Title: The Annals of Valahia University of Târgoviste, Geographical Series - Year 2000, Vol 1, Issue 1
Abstract
The environmental researches, differentiated on scalar levels, appear to be an ardent necessity, owing to some practical reasons. The medium scalar levels (regions, areas) and the microscalar levels (the geomorphic surfaces, the systems of habitat, techno-economical units, etc.) with their strong connections between the components, present the most adequate possibility for a proper assessment of the environmental state. At these levels, the critical situations develop directly, in a short period of time. Therefore, for these levels it is easier to define the necessities, the manners in which the environment can be recovered, to make plans and to manage, in an efficient way, the available funds. The delimitations of the critical manifestation types, the establishment of the treshold of state and the estimation of the evolution’s tendencies have constituted the premises for the detailed researches. The observations and the measurements, integrated in an adequate monitoring system, have focused upon three techno-productive and habitat structures (Zlatna, Târnăveni and Copşa Mică) and upon two complex regions (the Apuseni Mountains and the Curvature Subcarpathians) from Romania, in which the environmental states are acute. The results, involved in projects and development and territorial management plans, have been finalized in an interdisciplinary cooperation.
