Abstract
The article raises the issue of interaction of new media with mass consciousness in terms of their effectiveness and impact on society. It is emphasized that new media got their name not so much as a technological feature, but also as the ability of a new format for introducing information into a mass audience. And this format can have both a positive and a negative ability.
