Ochrona informacji o pacjencie a obowiązek zachowania tajemnicy medycznej przez fizjoterapeutę

Journal Title: Rehabilitacja w Praktyce - Year 2018, Vol 1, Issue 4

Abstract

Physiotherapeutic practice entails the legal and ethical obligation of maintaining medical confidentiality of patient records, which have been obtained while providing healthcare. The scope of medical secrecy of a physiotherapist is wide and includes not only patient personal details, information about his or her illnesses, condition and medical procedures, but also other information given by the patient in connection with providing healthcare to him or her. The physiotherapist can be released from the obligation of maintaining confidentiality only by the patient, prosecutor or court. The law specifies situations in which the disclosure of patient information is legally permissible or even necessary. The physiotherapist can be held criminally, civilly and professionally liable for the unlawful disclosure of the patient data.
