Pedagogic resources of English classes with students of nonlinguistic specialties

Abstract

The article presents the pedagogic resources of English classes with students of non-linguistic specialties in higher education establishments. The main approaches to education as a pedagogical phenomenon are highlighted: 1) a necessary element of the pedagogical process aimed at the socialization of the individual; 2) the process of continuous formation of the individual, which is subject to the laws of the society development and the influence of many objective and subjective factors, which purpose is to prepare a person for active participation in productive, social and cultural life;3) a purposeful process and the result of socio-cultural cooperation between students and teachers, which are based on the active role of education providers in relation to life circumstances. The main directions of education in institutions of higher education (moral education, aesthetic education, ecological education, patriotic education, and law education) are presented. It is found out that English classes of students of non-linguistic specialties are an important and effective tool for education of youth, which allow combining the improvement of language skills with educational influence on them, and form moral and ethical norms. Within the framework of moral education mini-conversations in English are organized; they make students once again think about such essential concepts of life as sincerity, kindness, gratitude, love for parents, respect for the elderly, justice, etc. Aesthetic education of students is aimed at developing aesthetic tastes of young people, acquaintance with works of literature, music, fine arts, theatre and other types of art. Within the framework of ecological education, environmental disasters and ways of preventing them, the role of each individual in the preservation of the environment are discussed with students. To form the law culture of students special conversations are held.
