Pre-Kallol and Kallol Patrika : Tendency of the Authors to be Independent

Abstract

In Bengali literature Kallol group played an influential role in literary movement. The writers of Kallol group brought a new era in modern literature. There are so many young writers like Manindralal Basu, Gakul Chandra Nag, Sailajananda, Premendra Mitra, Yubanaswa who had contributed their writings in Kallol. Kallol group was the first conscious literary movement to embrace modernism in Bengali literature. The members of Kallol group heavily influenced by Sigmund Freud, and as a result sexual consciousness was found in their writings. Moreover the effects of post world war like poverty, frustration etc, was also reflected in the writings of the authors of Kallol. Even so many narrating story from English, French, Russian was published in kallol. Dr. Apurba Chatterjee has analysed all these issues critically in this paper. Dr. Chatterjee completed his Master Degree from Visva-Bharati University,India. He has done his research work in Bengali Department under the supervision of Prof. Bhabotosh Dutta.
