Predictive value of the simplified pulmonary embolism severity index combined with serum uric acid and neutrophil percentage in the short-term prognosis of lung cancer patients with acute pulmonary embolism
Journal Title: Chinese Journal of Clinical Research - Year 2025, Vol 38, Issue 2
Abstract
Objective:To explore the application and value of simplified pulmonary embolism severity index (sPESI) combined with serum uric acid (SUA) and neutrophil percentage (NEUT%) in the prediction of short-term prognosis of lung cancer patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE). Methods:A total of 102 lung cancer patients with APE admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University from January 2019 to December 2022 were retrospectively selected, and they were divided into death group and survival group according to the clinical outcome 30 days after admission. The clinical data and sPESI of the patients in the two groups were collected and compared, and the factors affecting the short-term prognosis of lung cancer patients with APE were analyzed, and the predictive value of each index on the short-term prognosis of patients was assessed by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Results:Among 102 lung cancer patients with APE, 19 cases were in the death group and 83 cases were in the survival group. Logistic regression analysis suggested that sPESI (OR=7.055, 95%CI:2.124-23.441)and SUA, NEUT% were independent influencing factors for the short-term prognosis of the lung cancer patients with APE (P<0.05). ROC curve analysis showed that the area under the curve (AUC) for predicting the short-term prognosis of lung cancer patients with APE was 0.821 for sPESI, 0.834 for SUA, 0.791 for NEUT%, and 0.937 (95%CI: 0.892-0.982) for the combination of the three. Conclusion: sPESI combined with SUA and neutrophil percentage has a good predictive value for short-term prognosis in lung cancer patients combined with APE.
