Prevention and Control of Cardiovascular Diseases by Drinking Water in Low and Middle Income Countries: a Review

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are leading cause of death worldwide and due to complex socioeconomic condition of peoples governments are looking to reduce risk factors for CVD’s such as soft water. Water is essential source of calcium and Magnesium ions. Both are essential elements of human body and Magnesium is act as cofactor in over 300 enzymes and regulators of several metabolic processes in our body. Magnesium is natural regulator of cholesterol synthesis and essential vasodilator to reduce Hypertension and Cardiovascular diseases. Hens Magnesium deficiency may be associated with susceptibility for cardiovascular diseases. Soft water is lack of calcium and Magnesium ions and long term use of soft water may cause vascular complications which can finalize into cardiovascular diseases.
