QoE-Aware Device-to-Device Multimedia Communications
Journal Title: EAI Endorsed Transactions on Creative Technologies - Year 2015, Vol 2, Issue 4
Abstract
Multimedia services over mobile device-to-device (D2D) networks has recently received considerable attention. In this scenario, each device is equipped with a cellular communication interface, as well as a D2D interface over a shared medium. In this work, we study the performance properties of the mobile D2D communications in the framework of user satisfaction, and develop a fully distributed QoE-aware multimedia communication scheme (QAMCS). Specifically, we translate the opportunistic multimedia communications issue into a stochastic optimization problem, which opens up a new degree of performance to exploit. Moreover, QAMCS is designed for a heterogeneous and dynamic environment, in which user demand, device mobility, and transmission fashion may vary across different devices and applications. Importantly, QAMCS is able to maximize the user satisfaction and only needs each device to implement its own scheme individually in the absence of a central controller.

A High Visual Quality Embedding Method in Edges Based on Pixel Pair Difference
In this paper, we proposed a new data hiding method based on diamond encoding (DE) and pixel pair difference (PPD). DE proposes a pixel-wise algorithm which flexibly embeds different base digits to maximize payload and i...
The Significance of a Body in Contemporary Arts
This paper discusses the role and significance of a body in Performance Art. Considering that Art reflects social, cultural and sometimes political realities, we identify types of messages that an artwork using advanced...
Multi-agent evolutionary systems for the generation of complex virtual worlds
Modern films, games and virtual reality applications are dependent on convincing computer graphics. Highly complex models are a requirement for the successful delivery of many scenes and environments. While workflows suc...
Enabling Active InteractionWith Music And Sound In Multisensory Environments
In recognising a lack of established design principles for multisensory environments (MSEs), two case studies are described which challenge current trends for creating and resourcing sensory spaces. Both environments wer...
Towards a new software quality model for evaluation the quality of gamified systems
Due to the emergence of the Gamification concept in various domains, this article studies how to improve the quality of gamified systems with the software engineering discipline. Recent studies have shown a significant g...
