Abstract

This research is devoted to explanation of religious and mystic aspects of creative work of a brilliant Ukrainian composer Artemiy Loukyan Vedel (Vedelsky) (1767 - 1808). The results of the performed research showed, that artistic thinking of A.Vedel had been formed under strong impact of a profound religious and philosophical education, obtained at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, and had been tightly connected with Christian religious and mystic phenomenology. Stated by biography scientists inclination to internal melancholic praying solitude (ascetic living) and “thinking on psalms” defines character and the essence of his creative self-realization as a composer, as a special form of religious and creative discourse. These results made it possible to show analogy with mysterious orthodox practice of “reasonable praying”, actualized in phenomena of spiritual catharsis – metanoya and “a gift of tears”. Along with that, contrary to it, the energy of a religious feeling, accumulated by A.Vedel in the process of individual praying introspection, had been directed into the area of not a transcedent, but creative area, focused on religious and creative images, common to life experience of a master. Such a circumstance explained direct correlation between music and lexical individualization in creative work of a master with the level of emotional experience of certain religious attitudes, showing deep connection between spiritual life and specifics of it`s reflection by sources of music art. This provides grounds to characterize creative work of A. Vedel as a unique cultural and historical phenomena, that embodied irrecoverable specifics of spiritual life of the Ukrainian society in the end of XVIII century.
