REPRESENTATION OF THE CONCEPT «FRIENDSHIP» IN THE FRENCH, ENGLISH AND UKRAINIAN PHRASEOSYSTEMS (ON THE MATERIAL OF THE FRENCH, ENGLISH AND UKRAINIAN LANGUAGES)

Abstract

The concept «friendship» is studied as one of the main elements of cognitive linguistics and phraseology, its main content, structure and means of its phraseological expression (features of verbalization of phraseological units) are analyzed in French, English and Ukrainian linguistic cultures. Friendship is a concept that deserves attention and that has the capacity to improve relationships in a confl ict-ridden world. The original meaning of friendship is associated with a voluntary, personal, important reciprocal relationship between individuals. This relationship involves affection, caring, understanding, support, loyalty and companionship. The aim of the article is to analyse the role and position of the concept «frienship» in Ukrainian, French and English and how it is interpreted in these languages. The article adresses the main faetures of the concept «friendship» revealead by analysis of researches devoted to it. It contains description and comparison of main structural and signifi cant characteristics of the concept «friendship» in the Ukrainian, French and English languages. Friendship ties are determinated through their functional and pragmatic directions. Also lexico-semantic fi eld of the concept «friendship» in communicational and explicit spaces is expressed, verbal expressions in spoken speech are compared and contrasted. The choice of interlingual equivalents of English, French and Ukrainian languages in various thematic groups of phraseologisms was based on the form and content of phraseological units. The phenomenon of the friendship image existing in the modern national consciousness is shown. In our article the division of the concept «friendship» into the phrase-semantic groups is realized; the features of interlanguage correspondences of phraseology of English, French and Ukrainian languages are investigated. The comparative analysis proves that the understanding of the concept «friendship» in these languages coincides.
