Research on the aging-adaptive renewal of public space in residential areas of Zhengzhou City from the perspective of social network
Journal Title: Journal of Henan Agricultural University - Year 2024, Vol 58, Issue 3
Abstract
[Objective] This study aims to enhance the experience of elderly people in public spaces in residential areas. [Method] Using the social network analysis (SNA) method, a public space network and a behavioral activity network for the elderly were established in the green shaded residential area of Zhengzhou City. By analyzing the topological structure, density, centrality, centrality, and tangency of the network, the efficiency of public space utilization was quantified, and the distribution pattern and mechanism of nodes were revealed. [Result] 1) The structure of the public space network in the study area was nest-shaped, and the structure of the behavior network of the elderly was radial-shaped, indicating that there exist great differences in stucture. 2) Through comparative analysis, the overall completeness of the two networks is general; From the perspective of equilibrium, the order of the central nodes of the two networks does not coincide, indicating that their behavioral needs do not match the supply of space; From the perspective of vulnerability, the links between the nodes of the behavioral activity network of the elderly are relatively more fragile. [Conclusion] The center of behavior activities of the elderly is not the ideal center of the regional public space, and the adaptability of the space to the behavior of the elderly needs to be further improved. Based on the research results and the current situation of the area, this study proposes three suggestions, namely, dredging the paths, linking the communities and enriching the nodes, to provide a theoretical basis for the improvement of public space facilities and landscape quality improvement.
