Right to assigned legal assistance of defense counsel in international criminal courts

Abstract
The article deals with general questions of the right to defense through assigned legal assistance of defense counsel in international criminal courts. Relevant norms of Statutes, Rules of Procedure and Evidence of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and International Criminal Court, as well as international law doctrine are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to right to free choice of defense counsel.
