Risk factors that predispose the appearance of skin cancer. A review study
Journal Title: Más Vita - Year 2020, Vol 2, Issue 3
Abstract
Malignant skin tumors are the most frequent and, although they are not among the top ten causes of death from cancer, they do cause deformities and functional impairment. This is be-cause most appear in places on the skin exposed to the sun (the face, around the eyes and mouth, the ears, among others). Objective: To determine the risk factors that predispose to the appearance of skin cancer. Methodology: It constitutes a do-cumentary research, both bibliographic and digital. Results: the predisposition to suffer from skin cancer underlies endoge-nous factors (internal factors of the indi-vidual) race, diet, habits, sex, family and personal history, phototype, moles and exogenous factors (factors external to the individual), exposure to ultraviolet rays, chemicals and smoking. Conclusion: The main risk factor for developing skin cancer are the so-called ultraviolet rays from sunlight, which produce mutations in the DNA of cells that accumulate over years. Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the fair-skinned population
