SELECTED EXTERNAL RESOURCES OF FINANCING THE DEVELOPMENT OF SMALL AND MEDIUM- SIZED ENTERPRISES IN POLAND

Abstract
The SME sector plays an important role in the national economy due to the fact that it generates a significant share of GDP and creates a lot of jobs. Unfortunately, it encounters numerous barriers in its development, and one of the most important of them is undoubtedly scarcity of equity capital and difficulties in obtaining external financing. The paper presents the role and importance of the SME sector in the national economy as well as possibilities of financing the development of such enterprises by outside capital from selected institutions of the Polish banking sector and other selected financial institutions.
