SheepNet Share Solutions to Improve Efficiency in Sheep
Journal Title: Black Sea Journal of Public and Social Science - Year 2019, Vol 2, Issue 1
Abstract
The European Union is only 85% self-sufficient in sheep meat production and it can increase this adequacy to 92% with an increase of 0.1% in lamb production per sheep. Supported by the EU, the European Union will share six sheep producer countries, including Turkey and sheepnet project scientists and producers within the EU, these solutions include establishing a robust exchange network. SheepNet recently held its second international workshop in Romania. The workshop was attended by a delegation of 60 participants from 7 SheepNet countries and a delegation from Hungary. The main objective of the meeting was to share the solutions with the exchange method in order to increase the efficiency of the sheep. 55 solution proposals of all partner countries were presented in 4 separate solutions market. Each solution market encouraged interaction between delegations and made it possible to share knowledge and experiences. Each country has had the chance to choose and receive relevant solutions to increase productivity in sheep farming in their own countries. At the meeting, it was agreed that many problems that affect productivity in sheep farming are already in many countries across Europe. SheepNet will hold its next international workshop in Spain in June. SheepNet is open to all European Union countries, stakeholders and sheep producers.
