Spectrophotometric Determination of Capacetabine via their Metal Chelate
Journal Title: Indian Journal of Research in Pharmacy and Biotechnology - Year 2016, Vol 4, Issue 3
Abstract
A simple, sensitive and accurate spectrophotometric method was described for the estimation of Capacetabine(CPB) a prodrug used as a chemotherapeutic agent used to treat of cancer either in pure form or in the tablet. The developed method is based on chelate formation between CPB and Fe (III) in aqueous media. The complex showed an absorption maximum at 335nm with apparent molar absorpitivity of 3.78x10 4 L-M-1Cm-1 and sandell’s sensitivity of 0.050 µg/cm2 respectively. The solution of the coloured complex obeyed beer’s law in the concentration range of 2-20µg/ml. The LOD and LOQ were calculated and RSD were calculated. The chelate composition between CPB and Fe(III) ion was in the ratio of 1:1 determined by Job’s continuous method and by Molar ratio method. The developed colourimetric method was applied for the estimation of CPB in tablets in presence ofcommon excipients without interference. The results obtained by the application of this procedure showed good percentage recoveries.
